How do you install FiveM scripts?

Installing a FiveM script means placing its resource folder inside your server's `resources` directory, adding an `ensure <resourcename>` line to `server.cfg`, importing any SQL file it ships, and editing its config file to match your framework and server. Order matters: dependencies such as a database connector or framework core must be ensured before resources that need them, or the resource will error on start.

In one lineInstalling a FiveM script is the process of copying its resource folder into the server's resources directory, registering it in server.cfg, applying its database schema, and configuring it before the server starts.

The longer answer.

There is no universal FiveM installer — every resource is a folder plus a manifest, and "installing" one is really four steps: place the files, register the resource in server.cfg, apply any database schema, and set the configuration. Where those steps go wrong is almost always order and dependencies, not the code itself.

`ensure` (the modern replacement for the older `start`) is the server.cfg directive that loads a resource and restarts it cleanly if it's already running. FXServer processes server.cfg largely top to bottom, so a database connector like oxmysql, then a framework core, then shared libraries, then the scripts that depend on them is the conventional order — reversing it produces errors that look like bugs in the script but are really load-order problems.

A resource that ships a database schema needs that schema applied before it starts, since a query against a table that doesn't exist yet fails immediately. Read the exact install document for the product rather than assuming — escrowed products in particular sometimes need a license key or Keymaster association that a purely mechanical file-copy will miss.

The checklist.

  1. 01Read the product's install docs first — dependencies, minimum framework version, and required convars vary by script.
  2. 02Drop the resource folder into your server's resources directory, keeping the folder name the script's docs specify.
  3. 03Import any .sql file into your database before first start — tables must exist before the resource queries them.
  4. 04Add the resource's dependencies to server.cfg above it, then add `ensure <resourcename>` for the resource itself.
  5. 05Edit the config file for your framework, server identifiers, and any locations or permissions it exposes.
  6. 06Restart the server and watch the console for manifest or dependency errors before inviting players back.
