What is Qbox in FiveM?

Qbox is a FiveM roleplay framework descended from QBCore, built around the ox ecosystem — ox_lib for UI and callbacks, oxmysql for database access, and typically ox_target and ox_inventory for interactions and items. It gives servers QBCore's data model and resource lineage with newer internals and active maintenance. Qbox is younger than QBCore and ESX, so its third-party resource ecosystem is smaller, though it inherits much of QBCore's compatibility.

In one lineQbox is a maintained FiveM roleplay framework forked from QBCore that adopted the ox_lib and oxmysql stack as its foundation.

The longer answer.

Qbox emerged as a community fork of QBCore rather than a ground-up framework, which is why it shares QBCore's player-data conventions (citizenid-keyed records, a similar job/gang model) while replacing the internals underneath — notably standardizing on ox_lib for client-server callbacks and UI, and oxmysql for database access. Servers coming from QBCore keep more of their data and mental model than a move to ESX would require.

The core identity object is exports.qbx_core:GetPlayer(), and job or gang grade arrives as a table with a `.level` field rather than a bare number — a detail that trips up code ported carelessly from QBCore, where grade was often just an integer. Qbox also natively supports a player holding multiple jobs or gangs at once, which QBCore-era code frequently assumes cannot happen.

Because Qbox is newer than QBCore and ESX, fewer third-party resources are purpose-built for it, though many QBCore resources run via compatibility shims. A script advertised as "Qbox supported" through a shim is a different claim than one written natively against qbx_core — worth asking about before buying, since the shim path inherits QBCore's quirks rather than Qbox's improvements.
