Is FiveM escrow safe?
FiveM asset escrow is safe as a delivery mechanism — it is Cfx's own system, purchased through Tebex and bound to your server key — but it is not a safety guarantee about the code inside. Escrow encrypts a resource's protected files so they run without being readable; it does not verify that the code is secure, performant, or maintained. An escrowed script is only as safe as the seller's disclosure, test evidence, and support record.
In one lineEscrow safety is a question about the seller's disclosure and evidence, not about the encryption itself, because escrow hides the code from you as thoroughly as it hides it from thieves.
The longer answer.
Two different questions hide inside "is escrow safe." The first is whether the mechanism is trustworthy: it is. Cfx asset escrow is operated by the platform owner, delivered through Tebex, and bound to the buyer's Cfx account via the keymaster system, which is why an escrowed resource cannot be handed around like a zip file. Nobody outside Cfx's pipeline is encrypting your resource, and nobody outside your licence can run it.
The second question is whether the code you can't read is safe to run on a server with real players and a real economy, and escrow answers nothing about that. An escrowed net event handler can trust the client's money amount just as easily as an open one; escrow simply removes your ability to check. That is why the useful safety questions are about the seller: do they publish an exact file-level list of what ships open and what ships locked, a dated changelog, a measured performance figure with method and date, and a written support commitment?
In practice a safe escrowed purchase looks like this: the config, locales, framework bridge, and exports ship as readable source; only core logic is locked; the listing names the framework versions actually tested; and the resource goes onto a staging server before production, where you run the same restart, load, and client-trust checks you would run on anything else. Escrow changes what you can read. It should never change what you test.
The checklist.
- 01Confirm the purchase route is Tebex or the Cfx Marketplace — escrowed assets are not legitimately delivered any other way.
- 02Get the file-level split: which files are open, which are escrowed. "Config is editable" is not an answer.
- 03Check that the bridge, exports, and any file you will need to debug integration ships open.
- 04Ask for the resmon idle and active figures with artifact version, framework, and date.
- 05Read the licence terms for what happens on refund, server transfer, and if the seller stops updating.
- 06Install to staging first and run a restart check, a load check, and a client-trust check before players see it.
